The Honest Pitch

What a Tuesday looks like.

You meet at the shop at 8am, load the truck with the day's units, and head to a jobsite where you'll install 6–10 windows in a residential remodel.

You set the openings, flash them per the manufacturer's spec, drop the units, plumb and shim, foam and seal, and trim. You're back to the shop by 4pm with a clean truck. You get paid Friday by direct deposit.

You work with a lead installer who's been at this five-plus years. The lead sets the pace, calls the shots on shimming and sealing, and handles the GC. On bigger jobsites, a third person makes it a full crew. You're either learning from the lead or you are the lead — depends on which seat you're in.

Shop hands you everything you need: truck, ladders, ramps, spray foam, levels, hand tools (impact, drill, tape, square, utility), fasteners, sealant, and the units. You bring boots and clothes you don't mind ruining. Paid 30-minute lunch.

The owner is on every active jobsite at least once a week. Not to look over your shoulder — so you have a direct line when something is off (material, safety, scheduling, pay).

On Friday you'll know whether you're working Saturday and where Monday's job is. That's the deal.

Questions from the Field

Common questions.

If yours isn't here, just call or text — faster than email.

Do I need door and window install experience to apply?
For the Helper / Apprentice role, no — we train. Show up on time, willing to learn, valid driver's license is the bar. For Installer and Lead Installer roles, yes — we want someone who's already set a window or hung a door before, even if not at high volume.
Are these W-2 jobs or 1099?
Lead Installer, Installer, and Helper roles are all W-2 with weekly payroll, workers' comp, and payroll taxes withheld. We also bring on 1099 sub-installer crews on a per-job basis — those are separate engagements where you bring your own truck, tools, and insurance.
How is pay structured?
Hourly, paid weekly by direct deposit every Friday. Raises tied to specific skill milestones (e.g., once you can install a standard window unsupervised), not to time-on-job. Overtime when the job needs it, paid at 1.5x.
Do I need my own tools or truck?
Hand tools and a basic power tool kit for Installer and Lead Installer roles — the kind of kit a tradesperson with a few years of experience already owns. We supply specialty equipment (ladders, lifts, brakes), the truck, and material. Helpers don't need any tools to start.
What does the schedule look like?
Monday through Friday, 8am start at the shop, typical 8-10 hour days. Occasional Saturdays when a job demands it — you'll know by Thursday afternoon whether Saturday is on. We don't surprise crews with weekend work.
I have a felony or rough background. Can I still apply?
Yes — apply anyway. We hire on what you can do today and how you show up, not what's on a background check from years ago. Some insurance roles (driving the company truck) have limits, but those are conversations, not automatic disqualifications.
How fast is the hiring process?
Phone screen within 24 hours of applying. In-person interview at the shop within a week. Paid one-day working interview the week after that — you come on a real job, install with the crew, and we both decide if it's a fit. From application to first paycheck is usually under three weeks.
Is there room to grow?
Yes. Helpers move up to Installer once they can run a basic install unsupervised, usually 6–12 months. Installers move up to Lead once they can run a job solo with a helper, usually another 12–18 months. Lead installers eventually take on supervising multiple crews. We hire slow and promote from within.
